12 June 2017 - Gastronomy on the G Progressive Dinner

12 June 2017

Hottest ticket in town: ‘Gastronomy on the G’

Gold Coast Food and Wine Tours launches a progressive dinner with a twist the new addition to the ‘Taste of the Gold Coast’ food and wine tour series.

A progressive dinner using the local G:link tram is proving a hot favourite with food and wine lovers on the Gold Coast. The new tour ‘Gastronomy on the G’ launched by Gold Coast Food and Wine Tours has been a sell-out and is receiving rave reviews from guests.

“I wanted to showcase the very best of our thriving Gold Coast food scene, so I’ve partnered with four of our top hotels to create a unique dining experience that’s only available on our tours, says Karen Inglis-Turner, Director at Gold Coast Food and Wine Tours.

“Gastronomy on the G’ is a progressive four-course dinner with a dash of extravagance. We start in a hidden wine cellar where guests taste exotic wines, handpicked and presented by some of Australia’s top sommeliers. Floor to ceiling wine bottles and elegant glass chandeliers set the scene for a great evening. From there we head to some of the best restaurants in town,” said Karen.

“We meet executive chefs, enjoy a cooking demonstration, tour a secret garden, and taste the finest award winning food. A cocktail mixologist shakes up a treat, and of course, no meal is complete without dessert. Everything is prepared especially for us, with a focus on local flavours and produce.”

“Adding to the fun, we use the G:link to get around town. For many of our guests, this is the first time using our tram and they really enjoy the experience. At each stop a new adventure awaits.”

“We’re all about the wow factor and this premium tour is perfect if you want to impress. Our guests enjoy the chance to dress up for the evening, and after a few wines everyone gets on famously with lots of laughs and Instagram moments,” she said.

“This is the first of our new premium tours and we have more in the pipeline, including plans for a Taste of Tamborine tour. We also host walking tours in Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach.”

“On our ‘Gastronomy on the G’ tour, you’ll discover the true sophistication and style of our local food scene. And if the success of our first few tours is anything to go by I think we’re onto a winner.”

4 January 2017 — New Food Tours Showcase

4 January 2017

New food tours showcase best of Gold Coast

The launch of local business Gold Coast Food and Wine Tours is an exciting addition to the Gold Coast food scene, with walking tours of Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. Tours are proving popular for birthdays and hen’s parties as well as guests visiting the Gold Coast.

Accredited tour guide and business owner Karen Inglis-Turner recently launched her own food tour company to cater for the rapidly growing interest in the region’s food and wine.

“High quality dining experiences have put the Gold Coast on the map as a foodie destination, with food tourism one of our fastest growing markets,” says Karen.

“With Mt. Tamborine and the Scenic Rim on our doorstep we’re famous for our seafood, coffee, grass-fed beef and craft beer. We are surrounded by a regional food bowl that provides us with the highest quality produce in the world.”

Taking on the challenge of showing locals and visitors around the secret gems of the coast’s food industry, her business could not have come at a better time.

“Food is on trend right now, with dining rating among the Gold Coast’s highest tourism drawcards. Thanks to popular programs like Master Chef, people are more aware of the provenance of food, and the time and effort that goes into its preparation.”

“We have local artisans serving up incredible fare every day. Having been in the local industry for many years, I love supporting local businesses by showcasing their specialities – the things that make them really stand out, whether they are internationally acclaimed for a particular dish or an artisan producer putting their own spin on a product.”

So what can you expect on a food tour?

“We share our insider knowledge of the industry and show you the hidden gems and foodie secrets that only a local would know.”

“You get to meet the people behind the food – bakers, baristas and brewers who are really passionate about what they do and are happy to share their knowledge.”

“Our tours evolve as the hospitality industry changes. Venues open and close, so even if you’ve been on one tour. It’s definitely worth coming back to take another.”

“Our Burleigh Heads tour is popular with locals, especially for celebrations. We also organise corporate team building events and work with convention centres that are looking to entertain their guests.”

“If eating and drinking your way through an afternoon sounds like your idea of heaven, we invite you to join us on one of our fun-filled food tours.”
